The Edingale flock was established in 1982 and became pedigree registered with the Jacob Sheep Society in 1988.
From an unregistered Jacob ewe purchased out of the cull section at Uttoxeter Market in 1982, to Best Bred Jacob at the Royal Highland Show – Selective breeding over many years has created the Edingale flock of today. The registered foundation stocks were three ‘Woldview’ ewes purchased from the Society sale in Kettering in 1988 and crossed with Llangybi Barnum.
Over successive generations, prize-winning four-horned stock tups from Hyndshaw, Mantles, Cavers, Nidderdale, Loynton and Border have been used to produce the next generation. Artificial insemination was used during the 1990s to gain access to superior genetics from Perrymill, Casblaid and Hallgarth flocks.
